Zellweger syndrome is one of four diseases called peroxisome biogenesis disorder. A PBD is a larger group of diseases known as leukodystrophies. unfortunately there is no treatment for the Zellweger disease. Many are researching the molecular and genetic basis of the Zellweger Syndrome. This syndrome is indeed inherited from the child's parents. Some defects of the zellweger syndrome are iron and copper in the blood and an enlarged liver. Treatment for this is oral Bile Acid.
